The founder of Eagle Training, Michael G. Goergen, was a 27- year veteran of the FBI prior to his retirement and was both a negotiator and an instructor in crisis negotiations. He served as the Crisis Negotiations Coordinator for the FBI’s Minneapolis office, co-founded and administered a Minneapolis area Negotiators Focus Group and was a member of the FBI’s national Critical Incident Team.
Goergen has traveled both domestically and internationally in his capacity as a negotiator and instructor. He was part of the FBI’s negotiating efforts in Waco, Texas and Jordan, Montana and was assigned overseas to consult and assist in the negotiation process for the release of kidnapped Americans in India and Venezuela. Goergen has taught negotiations to foreign police officers for the U.S. Department of State in this country and overseas. As an FBI instructor he has taught numerous courses in negotiations to thousands of law enforcement and corrections officers in the Upper Midwest.
Goergen served in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Captain and is a Vietnam veteran. He received his BA degree from the University of Minnesota and a MPA degree from Long Island University. He has completed numerous training courses at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA and is a graduate of the National Negotiators Course conducted by the London Metropolitan Police Service (Scotland Yard).
